The Ministry Of Communication And Information Handles A Total Of 3.7 Million Negative Content From Online To Pornography Gambling

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that until September 17, 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics had handled 3,761,730 negative content, from gambling to pornography.

From 2018 to September 17, 2023, there were 3,761,730 negative content handled. A total of 969,308 gambling content, 8,954 contentfinals, and 1,211,571 pornographic content," said the Minister of Communication and Information as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi said the handling of the gambling page insertion on government websites reached 9,607 findings.

Budi Arie said, from 17 July 2023 to 17 September 2023, there were as many as 200,216 negative content that had been handled by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. Specifically for online gambling, there were 109,090 content, 92 content fraud, 18,219 content pornography, and 1,931 account gambling findings.

He emphasized that he had made a number of breakthroughs in handling negative content, especially gambling content. On September 14, 2023, Minister Budi Arie issued the Instruction of the Minister of Communication and Information Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Eradication of Online Gambling.

"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is committed to making preventive and proactive efforts to eradicate various gambling or slot content on all platforms within seven days from September 14, 2023," said Budi Arie.

According to the instructions, he said, the Director General of Informatics Applications of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, identified the account numbers and phone numbers used by the online players.

Furthermore, the Director General of Aptika conducted antijudionline education and socialization, instructed electronic system operators (PSE) not to facilitate the dissemination of gambling information, and committed not to carry out activities that support, campaign, or communicate with parties suspected of being involved with gambling activities.

He said the Ministry of Communication and Information is also increasing the capabilities of machines and human resources for handling negative content so that more content coverage can be verified and handled.

Specifically for handling gambling content, the Ministry of Communication and Information conducts crawling (assessment) of the Uniform Resource Lociator (URL) or links and accounts related to negative content and intensifys applications for blocking bank accounts through the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is also conducting more intensive cooperation with digital platforms to moderate negative content. Furthermore, increasing Internet Service Provider (ISP) supervision or internet service providers. And, cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office to monitor content and issues in the digital space," said Budi Arie.
