Fainted During The Karang Reef Survey In Aceh Besar, The Head Of The Aceh Volunteer Dies After Being Evacuated

The Banda Aceh National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team evacuated a diver who had problems at water depth during a coral reef survey in the waters of Pulau Tuan, Aceh Besar District. Head of Banda Aceh Basarnas Ibnu Haris Al Hussain said the victim was evacuated unconscious and was taken to the Meuraxa Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Banda Aceh. "The victim was unconscious after experiencing problems while diving in the waters of Pulau Tuan, Aceh Besar District. The victim was finally declared dead in the hospital," he said in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, September 19. Ibnu Harris said the victim was May Fendri (50), a resident of Tapaktuan, South Aceh Regency. The victim is the head of the Aceh SAR Volunteer Task Force (Satgas). The evacuation began when the victim and a number of his colleagues dived on Pulau Tuan, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar District, on Tuesday at around 12.30 WIB. During the dive, there was a problem that caused the victim to become unconscious. The victim's colleague evacuated him from the surface of the water and tried to provide first aid. "The victim's friend also contacted Basarnas asking for an evacuation process. From this request, Basarnas sent an evacuation team using a rubber boat unit RIB," he said.

The Basarnas team together with other SAR potentials evacuated victims from Tuan Island to Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City. When evacuated, the victim was unconscious. "From Ulee Lheue Port, the victim was taken to Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh. The victim was finally declared dead by the hospital," said Ibnu Harris.
