Masyayikh Assembly Public Tests Standard Quality Islamic Boarding School Documents

JAKARTA - The Masyayikh Assembly held a public test of the pesantren quality guarantee document which will become a standard of education quality organized by pesantren.

Chairman of the Masyayikh Council, Abdul Ghoffar Rozin, said that this quality assurance system will be applied to all levels of education at Islamic boarding schools, from formal early education, education is mu, to ma'had aly.

"This stage requires intensive dialogue so that the message, hope, ideals and goodwill of this document can be read and conveyed for the advancement of Islamic boarding schools and their education levels," Rozin said in his statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

The Masyayikh Assembly is an independent institution whose membership is taken from pesantren caregivers in Indonesia and elements of the government.

This institution is called independent because it works without government intervention, but the initiation of its formation is carried out by the Ministry of Religion.

The Masyayikh Assembly was first formed with a solemn period of 2021-2026 based on the Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 1154 of 2021 concerning the Masyayikh Assembly, and appointed nine members.

Since the issuance of Law (UU) Number 18 of 2019 concerning Islamic Boarding Schools, the government has given full recognition to pesantren that have peculiarities and authenticity in their education, without having to adopt the national curriculum.

Since then, the state and alumni recognized Islamic boarding school diplomas can continue their education levels anywhere or apply to any agency, both public and private, without having to take the Ministry of Education and Culture or the Ministry of Religion's equal test.

According to him, the preparation of the document for the guarantor system for the quality of pesantren education has gone through a series of processes involving various elements related to pesantren, including academics and education observers.

"So this is not a government product, but arises from the Islamic boarding school itself to set the same standards," he said.

In principle, he said, the quality documents of pesantren education will ensure clear and measurable quality of education, not according to institutional subjective tastes.

"But at the same time, we still ensure that every pesantren has its identity, uniqueness and original scientific tradition," he said.
