BMKG: Hotspots In East Kalimantan Drop From 20 To 16

BALIKPAPAN - The Balikpapan Station Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected a decrease in the number of hotspots in East Kalimantan (Kaltim), from 20 points on Sunday (17/9) to 16 today.

"A total of 16 hotspots were observed today from 01.00 to 16.00 WITA," said the Coordinator for Data and Information at the Sultan Aji Meteorological Station Muhammad Sulaiman - Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Diyan Novrida, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

The day before, 20 hotspots were detected, spread over four districts, namely in Paser (1), West Kutai (1), East Kutai (10), and Berau Regency (4).

Hotspots are indicators of forest or land fires (karhutla) detected from a location, with relatively high temperatures compared to the surrounding temperatures.

For this reason, he invites all levels of society to take care of each other and be vigilant, such as reminding each other not to throw cigarette butts carelessly, then not to burn while managing the land so that there is no fire.

The distribution of these 16 hotspots has been informed to related parties, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) both at the provincial and related district levels to receive further treatment.

Meanwhile, the details of the distribution of 16 hotspots are 1 point in Paser in Batu Sopang District, in West Kutai Regency, which was observed in Dilangputi District, both of which have a middle level of trust.

Then 10 points in East Kutai, all of which are scattered in Bengalon District, in Berau Regency where 4 points were detected in Sambaliung District (2) and Derawan Island District (2), all of which also have a middle level of trust.

"Meanwhile, the day before, 20 hotspots were detected, spread across four districts, namely Paser 1, East Kutai 13, Kutai Kartanegara 1, and Berau 5 hotspots. All of them also have a middle level of trust," he said.
