Putri Cempo Fire Final Disposal Site, Elementary School Students In Karanganyar Returned

JATENG - Dozens of students at SDN 02 Plesungan, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java (Central Java), were repatriated due to fire smoke that occurred at the Putri Cempo Final Disposal Site (TPA) Solo.

Endang Sawitri School Supervisor in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, Monday, said that he had received information from the school regarding the impact of the Cempo Putri fire.

He said that to be precise there were 44 students of SDN 02 Plesungan who were sent home. They were sent home shortly before attending the flag ceremony Monday, September 18 morning.

"Initially, the information was safe, so a ceremony would be held. Then the wind brought smoke here, so it was dark. When all the children entered this morning, they wanted to participate in all the ceremonies. Then the smoke started to point north, the children were short of breath, to the stomach nausea. So we notify parents to go home first," he said.

Due to the emergency conditions due to smoke that disturbs students and teachers, he continued, until now teaching and learning activities have not taken place properly.

Furthermore, the education corwil recommends that teaching and learning activities be held online while waiting for the situation to be conducive again.

"Until the situation allows it to return. Because our priority is the health of children and teachers. We allow teaching and learning activities to be carried out online at home with learning like we are currently experiencing COVID-19. Because this is also an emergency situation," he said.

He also cannot confirm how long the learning will be done online considering that the blackout of the Putri Cempo TPA has not stopped completely.

Meanwhile, apart from elementary school students, his party also repatriated five students of TK Dharma Wanita Plesungan, which is located one page with SDN 02 Plesungan.

"Moreover, they are still toddlers," he said.
