BOGOR - DPRD Bogor City highlighted several cases of the world of education in Bogor City. Secretary of Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD, Devie Prihartini Sultani, was sad with cases of alleged sexual abuse by teachers and extortion in the Admission of New Students (PPDB).

Most recently, allegations of extortion involving the Principal or Head of SDN Cibeureum 1, Bogor City were revealed when Bogor Mayor Bima Arya visited the school on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

The Principal at SDN Cibeureum 1, was immediately removed from his position. This is because the Principal of SDN did not only accept extortion, but also unilaterally dismissed one of the honorary teachers who reported this.

Devie Prihartini Sultani also felt sad because the PPDB cases at the junior high and high school levels had not subsided, now there are allegations of extortion or gratification at the elementary school level.

"The world of education in Bogor City has really been tarnished," he said, Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

He also considered that Bogor City jargon with 'Anti Pungli' which was written in the banner and installed in each school was just a 'lip service'.

The abuse of power shown by the Head of SDN 1 Cibeureum, is considered a form of failure of the education system in Bogor City.

In my opinion, this year's PPDB is the worst on its journey so far. It turns out that anti-extortion slogans are only lip service," he said.

According to him, the chaotic journey of the world of education in Bogor City is the responsibility of the Head of the Bogor City Education Office (Disdik) Sujatmiko to be responsible.

Because, Disdik, who has a role as a coach of schools and educational institutions, in fact, cannot provide a positive picture.

In addition to gratification cases, there were also cases of harassment committed by unscrupulous teachers at SDN Court 2.

Based on information submitted by the police, the perpetrator of the abuse with the initials BBS (30), has been harassing his students since 2022.

The NasDem politician also felt concerned about the victims.

Schools that should be able to be the second home for students are instead places that have trauma for victims of harassment.

"I can't speak anymore. The point is we from the Bogor City DPRD are ready to provide protection and help the recovery process of the victims. This is a bitter reality that we must swallow that schools are no longer safe places," said Devie Prihartini Sultani.

Devie Prihartini Sultani also questioned the title of Child-Friendly City which was recently assigned to Bogor City.

"Is it true, Bogor City is suitable for children? Has the vision and mission of the Family Friendly City been achieved at the end of the term of office of Mayor Bima Arya?" he said.

Strictly speaking, his party will take firm steps by holding a special working meeting to discuss the issue of the education sector in Bogor City.
