President Firmly Asks Officials Not To Be Repressive In Rempang, People Can Change Profits From PSN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo firmly asked the security forces not to act repressively to the public, especially in relation to national strategic projects.

"I always remind you not to use repressive approaches to the community," said Joko Widodo in his direction at the Opening of the 2023 National Strategic Project Sewindu (PSN) in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13.

The President's statement was about national strategic projects that were hampered by problems. Jokowi wants the public to be happy if there is a compensation for profits provided by the Government.

"Change profits because the price given is the best price. Repeatedly I emphasize that this PSN aim is to provide benefits to the people, not actually suffering the community," he said.

One of the projects that the President observed was a project on Pulau Rempang, Riau Islands. The President admitted that he called the National Police Chief at midnight regarding the matter.

"I have conveyed the matter in Rempang. Last night, at midnight I called the National Police Chief. This is just a communication error, just under the wrong communicate. Given compensation, given land, and given a house, but maybe the location is not right. That should be resolved. The business period must be up to the president?" he said.

If there are things that cannot be resolved in the field, according to the President, it should immediately report to the relevant directorate or minister.

"Don't ask if you're ready, sir. How about it? 'Beres sir'. Done, done. 'Safe sir'. Safe, safe. That's the last time, 'Sorry sir, it's not finished, sir', now. 'It can't be finished, sir', now," said the President.

The president emphasized that all problems can be found if they have been brought to a meeting.

"Usually, when there is a problem, with the ministers, with the National Police Chief, with the Commander, meeting, having met, solving problems. Finding solutions for every problem," he explained.
