Former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Eko Darmanto Prevented from Going Abroad in Connection with Gratification and Money Laundering Cases

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) to prevent four people, including the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise, Eko Darmanto. Prevention is carried out in connection with cases of gratification and money laundering crimes that ensnare him.

"Based on the needs of the investigative team in collecting evidence, four related parties were arrested," said Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, to journalists at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 12.

Ali has not specified who was prevented. However, information was obtained from four people who were prevented apart from Eko, the Commissioner of PT Ardhani Karya Mandiri, Ari Muniriyanti; Commissioner of PT Emerald Perdana Sakti, Rika Yunartika; and Director of PT Emereld Perdana Sakti, Ayu Andhini.

The four will be prevented for six months. "And an extension can be submitted again according to the investigation process," he stressed.

The Corruption Eradication Commission reminded Eko and the three people to cooperate in fulfilling the investigators' summons when called. They are also expected to provide clear information before investigators.

Previously, Eko had clarified his wealth which went viral on social media. The KPK then decided to investigate his assets.

He is known to have recorded his assets amounting to IDR 15.7 billion in the State Administrator's Wealth Report (LHKPN). However, that amount shrank to IDR 6.7 billion because the debt was reduced by IDR 9 billion.

It was recorded that Eko owned IDR 12.5 billion in assets in the form of two land and building assets in Malang and North Jakarta. Meanwhile, IDR 2.9 billion covers 9 means of transportation.

In detail, Eko has a 2018 BMW sedan worth IDR 850 million, a 2018 Mercedes Benz sedan worth IDR 600 million, a 1944 Jeep Willys worth IDR 150 million, a 1955 Chevrolet Bell Air IDR 200 million, a 2019 Toyota Fortuner worth IDR 400 million.

Then, a 2019 Mazda worth IDR 200 million, a 1957 Fargo Dodge worth IDR 150 million, a 1957 Chevrolet Apache IDR 200 million, and a 1972 Ford Bronco worth IDR 150 million. All these vehicles are registered independently.

However, there are no large motorbikes registered in the LHKPN. In fact, Eko often uploads videos showing off Harley Davidson motorbikes and even Cessna planes.
