Traffic Engineering At The ASEAN Summit Makes Roads Congested, Heru Budi Apologizes

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono apologized to the public for the severe congestion that occurred on Wednesday, September 6 yesterday. Yesterday, several roads such as Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, and Jalan Gatot Subroto were temporarily closed and caused long traffic jams around them. This congestion occurs on a number of roads due to traffic engineering arrangements which are routes for the delegation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit (KTT). "Right, two days of the summit, yes. On 5 and 6 (September). First, yes, I apologize if yesterday during the summit several residents or many traffic drivers were uncomfortable," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, September 7. However, Heru said that he had carried out socialization of the traffic engineering carried out and asked offices in Jakarta, especially on the protocol road, to adjust the working time of its employees to avoid congestion. Moreover, Heru has also appealed to companies to participate in implementing work from home (WFH) policies, although many do not. "I've already made a circular, I've appealed. Yes, it should have been possible yesterday some WFH," said Heru.

On the one hand, Heru asked the public to understand that this condition occurred because of the meeting of leaders of countries that rarely occurred in Indonesia. "But once again, that is our celebration, which may be 10 years from now, will return to us. Yes, we must support it and I thank the community," he explained.
