Police Arrest 4 Students In Kendari Bringing Sickles And Bows

The Buser 77 Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Kendari Police, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) arrested four students of high school (SMA) equivalent because they were caught carrying sharp weapons of sickle type and bow in Lorong Mekar.

Kendari Police Chief Kombes Muhammad Eka Fathurrahman said the identities of the four students included three students at one of the vocational high schools (SMK) in Kendari City, namely the initials FAR alias IT (16), SAP alias R (15), and HAS alias I.

Meanwhile, one other person is a student at the Aliyah madrasah in South Konawe Regency, with the initials KEV SAP alias KEV.

Eka revealed that the four students were named suspects/children in conflict with the law (ABH), for committing a criminal act of controlling and carrying sharp weapons.

"The suspects are still minors arrested based on sufficient preliminary evidence that should be suspected of having carried and controlled sharp weapons of sickles, catapults and bows," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

The students were charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951, with a penalty of 10 years in prison.

The arrests of the four students began when the police team carried out patrols targeting brawls between students in Kendari City.

"During the patrol, we found a group of school children who were hanging out and knowing from the results of the chat in their group HP they would fight between students and help the student to attack other high schools in Kendari," he explained.

Armed with evidence of the message, his party then carried out developments and succeeded in arresting the four students.

"Furthermore, the four students were taken to the Kendari Police Headquarters for further investigation," he explained.

Kendari Police Chief also appealed to parents of students in the jurisdiction of the Kendari Police to pay more special attention and supervision to their children who are studying at school.

"Lecturers at schools are expected to supervise more when school hours and take firm action against students who violate school rules," said Eka Fathurrahman.
