BSSN Budgets IDR 110 Billion For Cyber Security And Electronic Systems For The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) has allocated a budget of around Rp. 110 billion for cyberspace security and the electronic system for the 2024 General Election.

"So for securing this election, there has been a budget of 110 billion, sir, to secure the election," said the Head of BSSNHinsa Siburian to members of the council during a working meeting (raker) with Commission III of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

Hinsa said the budget was allocated to secure all electronic systems used by the General Elections Commission (KPU) for the 2024 General Elections event.

He said BSSN would also provide assistance to all electronic systems used by the KPU.

"Of course, the main task of BSSN is to ensure that the system used runs well according to the standards we have set, and we hope that the system built by the KPU can operate properly," he said.

He explained that the budget allocation was also included in buying supporting and operational devices for BSSN members in carrying out security for the 2024 General Election.

"Because in some KPUs we will place personnel to secure their systems," he said.

Hinsa said that BSSN has carried out election security starting in 2023, namely by forming an Election Task Force (Satgas).

"We have formed the Task Force and have been together with the KPU since January 2023 until now," he said.

Hinsa hopes that budget support for the smooth implementation of BSSN's duties in securing cyberspace for the 2024 General Election.

At the beginning, he explained that the BSSN budget ceiling for Fiscal Year 2024 was based on the Joint Letter of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas dated July 31, 2023, amounting to Rp771.77 billion.

"Experiencing an increase of 21 percent when compared to the 2023 budget ceiling," he explained.

The 2024 budget ceiling is divided into two programs, namely first, the BSSN management support program of Rp424.93 billion, including personnel expenditures of Rp248.80 billion, operational goods expenditures of Rp124.97 billion, and non-operational expenditures of Rp51.16 billion.

Second, he said, cyber security and resilience programs and passwords amounted to Rp235.99 billion, including spending on Government Work Plan (RKP) goods amounting to Rp25.36 billion,

priority budgets in the context of cyber security operations and codes related to elections amounted to Rp110.84 billion, and spending on the implementation of tasks and functions amounted to Rp210.63 billion.
