JAKARTA - World Bank (World Bank) President Ajay Banga will start a visit to Indonesia for four days starting September 4, 2023 in the context of a global tour that aims to prepare a new playbook for the institution.

The Playbook Tour aims to deepen ties with countries and various partners, as well as identify opportunities to maximize impacts through knowledge, financial support, and technical support.

"Baya's visit to Indonesia will describe the potential of the World Bank to replicate and expand projects that have an impact," said the World Bank in an official statement, Jakarta, Sunday, September 3.

On Monday (4/9), Banga will visit mangrove forests in Muara Village, Teluknaga District, Tangerang Regency, Banten.

The visit to the rehabilitation and restoration area of mangroves is considered to provide a clear example of how the World Bank supports Indonesia's efforts in climate resilience, as well as improving the level of life and creating jobs for the local community.

Reporting from Antara, Banga will also visit Serdang Kulon Village in Panongan, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Thursday (7/9) to see the stunting handling process in the area.

The nutrition improvement project starting from Peru is to be further developed and adapted to local conditions in Indonesia. In addition, learning from Indonesia is expected to be applied at the regional and global levels.

Banga's visit will take place during the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit and the relevant summit currently led by Indonesia. He will discuss how the World Bank can and must play a major role in coordinating global actions, working together to produce meaningful impacts and changes, "said the World Bank.

Furthermore, Banga's visit is also an opportunity for the World Bank to develop a joint strategy with the Indonesian government and regional leaders on various ways to accelerate development results by utilizing the expertise, financial support, and technical support of the World Bank.

During a visit to Jakarta, Banga was scheduled to meet with President Joko Widodo, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Panjaitan, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, and Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

Banga will also meet representatives of the private sector and beneficiaries of projects supported by the World Bank.

The implementation of the Banga global tour is said to have occurred at an important time for the World Bank and the global community. The challenges that are interrelated, namely poverty, climate, pandemic, conflict, and vulnerability, have made development even more difficult, where progress over the past decade has now experienced setbacks.

The World Bank is asked to carry out evolution and lead global efforts to raise low-income countries and at the same time improve the quality of life in middle-income countries, "said the World Bank.

Before going to Indonesia, Banga had visited Peru, Jamaica, India, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.
