The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (BB TNBTS) has reopened access to tourist visits from Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency after land and forest fires in the area.

Head of Administration Section of the TNBTS Center Septi Eka Wardhani in Malang City, East Java, on Sunday, said that joint personnel had succeeded in extinguishing the fire in the Savana caldera Tengger area that caught fire last week.

"In connection with the successful extinguishing of fires in the national park area, the entrances from Lumajang Regency and Malang Regency have been reopened," said Septi, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 3.

Septi explained that the opening of the entrance to the national park area was carried out at Coba Trisula, Malang Regency, and the Senduro area in Lumajang Regency after being closed on September 1, 2023.

According to him, tourists, including tourism service actors who will visit the national park area, are expected to keep the area safe so as not to trigger forest and land fires.

"The opening will begin on September 3, 2023. We urge the public, including tourism service actors, to protect the area by paying attention to the use of fire for safety, security, and comfort in silence," he said.

On September 1, 2023 at approximately 20.00 WIB, tourist access through the entrances of Jemplang, Coba Trisula, Malang Regency, and Senduro, Lumajang Regency, was closed to visitors to facilitate the process of extinguishing the fire by joint officers.

At that time, visitors were still able to enter the Bromo tourist area through the Cemoro Lawang gate, Probolinggo Regency, and Wonokitri, Pasuruan Regency, with a number of restrictions for areas that tourists could visit.

From the direction of Watu Singo to Jemplang and Puncak B29 from Argosari, Lumajang were closed for tourist visits. The closure will take effect from September 1, 2023 starting at 20.00 WIB until an undetermined time limit.

Previously, there was a forest and land fire incident that was first known to have occurred in the Bantengan area, which was located around the resort border of the National Park Management (PTN) in the Coba Trisula area and the PTN resort in the Ranupani area on August 29, 2023 at 23.30 WIB.

TNBTS Center officers followed up by examining the location conveyed by the community. Officers confirmed that there was a source of fire on the north side of the Malang-Lumajang road access, and spread to the savana area and the Jemplang block.

The effort to extinguish the fire was carried out by a joint team from a number of elements, namely the Fire Care Community (MPA) Ranupani Village, Ngadas Village and Argosari Village, TNI and Polri.

The TNBTS Center is still identifying the causes and areas affected by the fire. All parties are asked to be careful considering that the weather conditions are very dry due to the dry dry season and some savana dry up due to the phenomenon of upas dew.
