JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI Christina Aryani deeply regrets and condemns the murder of Papuan female activist Michelle Kurisi Doga by armed criminal groups (KKB).

"Violence in Papua is getting more and more terrible. The victims this time are civil society, women activists and Papuan children. We deeply regret and strongly condemn this incident," Christina said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 3.

Christina said that the authorities must act decisively to thoroughly investigate the case.

According to him, the violence that befell civilians will cause greater social turmoil if there is no serious action.

"The authorities must act decisively. Previously there were also many civilian casualties. Do not let the state be considered weak in front of criminal groups who brutally only want to show their existence," he said.

He said that this incident had created extraordinary terror and fear for other community groups. In fact, the situation of conflict in Papua with the escalation of violence that continues to increase is beyond humanitarian reason.

"When the victims are humanitarian activists, the situation is an emergency. It can't be in a normal way anymore. Women, children, and humanitarian activists, they must be protected and have nothing to do with conflicts between combatants. The TNI and Polri must take a firm stance," he said.

It is also said that the solution to the Papua problem must be solved starting from the issue of controlling its security first.

"Security control must be a priority now before talking about other issues. The president goes back and forth to Papua, security issues must be a priority. We encourage first focus on security control matters, then other matters," said Christina.

Previously, Dandim 1702/Jayawijaya Lt. Col. (Cpn) Aethianius Murip said that the victim Michella Kurisi Doga died on Monday, August 28.

Evacuation of the bodies experienced difficulties due to difficult and steep terrain, then the bodies were taken to Wamena Hospital, Jayawijaya Regency.

Michelle Kurisi is a social activist who is widely known by the public and leaders because of her concern for women and children in remote parts of Papua.

"In addition, Michelle Kurisi is the grandson of the head of the Silo tribe," said Atethius Murip.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Police Health Office, Kombes dr. Nariyana said that a team from Bhayangkara Hospital was conducting an autopsy on the body of Michele Kurisi Doga, who was the victim of a shooting in Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains Province.

"The autopsy is still ongoing at Bhayangkara Jayapura Hospital," he said, Friday, September 1 night.
