566 Potential Forest And Land Fires Monitored In East Kalimantan, 199 Points Are In Kutai Kartanegara, Neighbor Of IKN

BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected 566 hotspots spread across six districts in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim).

The Coordinator for Data and Information at the Class I Meteorological Station, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman-Sepinggan Balikpapan, Diyan Novrida, said that the monitoring had been informed to related parties for follow-up and handling.

"A total of 566 hotspots were observed today from 01.00 to 17.00 WITA," he said in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Friday, September 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

Hotspots are indicators of forest and land fires (karhutla) detected from a location, with relatively high temperatures compared to the surrounding temperatures.

For this reason, he invites all levels of society to take care of each other and be vigilant, such as not throwing cigarette butts carelessly, then not burning when managing the land.

The distribution of 566 hotspots was immediately informed to related parties in their respective working areas, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), both at the provincial and district levels to receive further treatment.

Meanwhile, the six districts with 566 hotspots are Paser (28), West Kutai (65), East Kutai (122), Kutai Kartanegara (199), Berau (199), and Mahakam Ulu (33) hotspots.

In West Kutai, for example, 65 hotspots were detected spread over five sub-districts, namely Bongan 1, Jempang 2, Muara Pahu 2, Nyuatan 6, Penyinggahan 42, and Tering District 2 points with a level of medium and high confidence.

Meanwhile, Paser Regency, which detected 28 points spread across seven sub-districts, namely Tanah Grogot 2, Muara Komam 1, Long Kali 9, Long Ikis 1, Kuaro 2, Batu Engau 7, Batu Sopang 7 hotspots.

"In Berau Regency, 169 points were observed spread across 10 sub-districts, namely Teluk Bayur 9, Talisingan 7, Tabalar 7, Segah 55' Sambaliung 10, Derawan Island 50, Kelay 9, Gunung Tabur 17, Biatan 4, and Batu Putih District 1 point," said Diyan.
