West Papua Prosecutor's Office Executes Former Head Of PUPR Kaimana Related To PLTG Corruption

WEST PAPUA - The West Papua High Prosecutor's Intelligence Fugitive Arrest Team executed Nicolas Evert Kuahaty, a former Head of the PUPR Office of Kaimana Regency who was involved in a criminal act of corruption in land and talud maturation projects at the Kaimana PLTG location in 2017 worth Rp. 18.28 billion. "We have arrested the former Head of the Kaimana PUPR Service," said West Papua Prosecutor's Office Head Harli Siregar through Intelligence Assistant Erwin Saragih in Manokwari, Antara, Thursday, August 31. The execution of the former Head of PUPR Kaimana was an appeal decision issued by the Supreme Court on the reconsideration (PK) of the alleged corruption case of the PLTG capital project. The defendant was arrested after attending a review of the alleged corruption in the project at the West Papua Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Manokwari District Court. "The Tabur team has been monitoring the defendant for about two weeks," said Erwin Saragih. Head of the Special Crimes Section (Pidsus) of the Kaimana District Attorney Ramli Amana explained that the corruption case of the land maturation project and the talud location of the PLTG (gas power plant) had a decision from the West Papua Corruption Court and the Jayapura High Court, Papua. "Based on the Supreme Court's decision which has permanent legal force, we will carry out the execution today," he explained.

Previously, the West Papua Corruption Court Panel of Judges sentenced Nicolas Evert Kuahaty to four years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million because it was proven to have legally misused the land maturation budget and the location of the Kaimana PLTG.
