TNI Commander: Latma SGS 2023 A Matter Of Sharing Knowledge

TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono said that the 2023 Super Garuda Shield (Latma SGS) Joint Exercise involving 2,810 soldiers of the Indonesian National Army (AD, AL, AU) and 2,165 foreign troops became a place to share knowledge in improving the ability and professionalism of TNI soldiers.

"Of course, with the current technological advances, from yesterday (previously) we carried out conventional training, and the existence of new doctrines obtained from outside (foreign soldiers), later they will be able to disirinformation and exercise, so that this doctrine does not die," said TNI Admiral Yudo Margono to reporters after officially opening the Joint Exercise of Super Garuda Shield 2023 at the Combat Training Center 5 Marines of Baluran Situbondo, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 31.

With the Joint Exercise of Super Garuda Shield 2023 which involved thousands of TNI soldiers and foreign soldiers from 17 countries (previously known as 20 countries), said Yudo, there will be many benefits in order to improve the professionalism of TNI soldiers.

"I am sure that with the cooperation (cooperation) with foreign countries, there are many benefits," said the TNI Commander.

Yudo revealed that joint exercises with 17 foreign countries from friendly countries in the Indo-Pacific region include Indonesia, the United States (US), Australia, Japan, Singapore, the UK, and stateobservers from England, Singapore, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Papua New Guinea, Brunei Darussalam, France, Germany, the Philippines, South Korea, Timor Leste, lasted for 14 days from August 31 to September 13, 2023.

"Of the 17 countries, six countries sent troops (joint training) and 11 countries sent observers," he said.

The 2023 Super Garuda Shield Joint Exercise, which took the theme "Joint Joint Command", continued Commander Yudo, carried out joint joint operations at several points, one of which was at the Baluran 5 Marines Puslatpur, Sumberwaru Village, Banyuputih District, Situbondo, East Java.

In addition, at Grati Banyuwangi Field and Blimbingsari Banyuwangi International Airport, Juanda Air Base, Dudiklatpur Kodam V/Brawijaya, and social service activities in Sumberejo Village, Banyuputih District, Situbondo.

"The joint exercise consists of exercises in forest jungles and technical exercises such as first aid in the field, city war and close combat. This will be carried out by the Army more later with participants from countries involved in training," he said.

Furthermore, the training of troops from two parties divided by blue and red units, which will later be carried out at sea and on land.

Super Garuda Shield 2023 is a joint military exercise initiated by Indonesia and the United States since 2007.

Initially, this joint military exercise was called "Garuda Shield" and only involved the United States Army and the Indonesian Army.

Since 2022 it has become Super Garuda Shield and involves elements of the army from three dimensions, namely the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
