Passive Intolerance Group Reduces, Head Of BNPT Calls Tolerance Trends Alami Improvement

JAKARTA - Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Rycko Amelza Dahniel said that the trend of tolerance in Indonesian society has increased based on studies in 2023. "Based on data from the Setara Institute in 2016 and 2023, the natural tolerance trend has increased from 61.6 percent to 70.2 percent," Rycko said in front of the Indonesian public and students in Morocco, as a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, August 30. Rycko explained that the increase in tolerance was due to a decrease in the number of passive intolerant groups, which was around 13 percent this year. This “Angka (tolerance) grew by the shrinking of passive intolerant groups from the previous 35.7 percent to 22.4 percent in 2023,” said the Head of BNPT. Nevertheless, Rycko reminded the public to remain vigilant against changes in the strategy of infiltrating violent ideologies. Groups adhering to violent ideologies, said Rycko, have changed their strategy in influencing society, especially the younger generation who are vulnerable in the midst of the swift flow of information. " “ They carry out a pattern of changes in attack from hard (hard) to soft approach (soft approach), from a bullet or bullet strategy to a ballistic strategy or a voice strategy. We must be aware of this together," added the 6th Head of BNPT. Rycko advised that the younger generation who already have an attitude of tolerance, nationalism, and diversity must be maintained. According to him, it is useful to build a safe, peaceful, and harmonious social life.
