KPU Criticism About DCS 2024's Success Claim, Formappi: There Are 2 Candidates Whose Types Of Claims Are Wrongly Written

The General Elections Commission (KPU) closed the period of providing input and public responses to DCS, Monday, August 28, 2023 at 23.59 WIB. The KPU admitted that it did not get much input and response because it succeeded in preventive and persuasive actions. Researcher of the Indonesian Parliamentary Concerned Community Forum (Formappi) Lucius Karus said the KPU's success claim for persuasive and preventive actions was too excessive. "Indeed, the KPU is looking for further reasons for the lack of input and response from the public regarding DCS. Formappi suspects that public input is limited because initial information from the KPU is not attractive to the public to be followed up through a period of input and response," explained Lucius in an electronic message received by VOI, Tuesday, August 29. The lack of personal aspects of the candidates displayed by the KPU illustrate the closedness. So, continued Lucius, the passion to inform the KPU was lost because the public felt that the input and response given would also be stored by the KPU or used as a means of venting by the KPU to the Political Parties. "The KPU fails to show their function that not only serves political parties but also voters. Limiting legislative information in order to maintain good relations with political parties is a form of neglect of the KPU in their function as public servants," said Lucius. Most importantly, the KPU does not even read, observe and do not care about the accuracy of the data and information they convey to the public through the information system managed by the KPU itself. Some of the problems that Formappi found were errors in gender writing in two candidates from the Gelora Party, Fauzi Ramadhan, Aceh II electoral district, number two and Silas Heluka, M. M, the Papuan electoral district of the Mountains, number three. "Both of them are written as female, even though based on searches it is suspected that the two are male genders. This proves that the KPU does not read, observe, and understand the information that is in their control," "How can there be consecutive errors related to the accuracy of the DCS Caleg data? That means that even the KPU does not care about the accuracy of the data," said Lucius. Lucius said that blaming the political party operator for the mistakes that were in the KPU's realm of work only showed the loss of a sense of responsibility from the KPU for the validation of the data he shared with the public. "I think again the KPU is unprofessional, irresponsible, and unable to be the organizer," said Lucius.

The findings of errors in their system should be recognized as their own fault and as a form of accountability there must be real action from the KPU such as apologizing or resigning.
