Legislator Asal Aceh Surati Panglima Desak Oknum TNI Penganiaya Warga Bireuen Diusut Tuntas

Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Teuku Riefky Harsya (TRH) strongly condemned the case of persecution which resulted in the death of a resident from Bireuen Regency, Aceh, in Jakarta who was allegedly carried out by TNI personnel. Cases must be thoroughly investigated. "We condemn the heinous acts committed against Imam Masykur, a resident of Bireuen. This criminal act must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators must be severely punished," said Teuku Riefky Harsya, who was confirmed from Banda Aceh, Antara, Sunday, August 27. Previously, it was rumored that Imam Masykur, a resident from Aceh who worked in Jakarta, was kidnapped by several people suspected of involving members of the TNI. After the incident, the Imam's family received a telephone and video of the Imam being tortured by the kidnappers. Imam was forced to ask his family for Rp50 million. After a while of no news from Imam, the family got Imam dead. Then, the Military Police of Kodam Jaya through a certificate of the body informed the Imam's family. The letter stated that the alleged perpetrator who carried out the persecution was Praka RM and two of his friends. Now the military police have detained him. He asked that the case allegedly carried out by the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) must be thoroughly investigated transparently. This member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from Aceh emphasized that he would officially write to the TNI Commander so that the perpetrators could be legally processed immediately. "In my capacity as one of the leaders of Commission I of the DPR RI in partnership with the TNI, I will write to the TNI Commander to ensure that this case is thoroughly and transparently investigated to the public," he said. He asked that the perpetrator be punished in accordance with the applicable regulations for members of the TNI for the sake of upholding an indiscriminate law. On this occasion, he expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims who came from Gandapura, Bireuen, Aceh.

"I am sorry for this incident. May the bereaved family be given fortitude and patience for this incident," said Riefky Harsya.
