Viral Ship Fires At Sunda Kelapa Port, 15 Fire Units Deployed

The cargo ship fire (kargo) occurred at Ujung Pier, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Ancol Village, Pademangan, North Jakarta, Saturday, August 26. This fire went viral on social media.

In the video circulating, there is a large fire burning cargo. Black smoke also soared high into the sky.

Head of Operations for North Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Abdul Wahid said 15 fire units were deployed to extinguish the ship's fire.

"The deployment and personnel units are 15 units and 75 personnel," he said, as reported by Antara. Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Sub-dept. Officer (Sudin Gulkarmat) of Pademangan District, Dede Budi, said that the fire was reported by residents at around 14.18 WIB. Based on information uploaded to the Instagram account @humasjakfire, it was explained that the extinguishing process was carried out starting at 14.31 WIB. It is not certain that the initial source of the fire began and spread to almost half of the ship's body. Officers are still trying to cool down the burning material so as not to leave hot smoke. The cooling process started at 15.07 WIB.
