In Front Of BRICS Leader, President Putin: Russia's Special Military Operation To End Western War In Ukraine

JAKARTA - Russia's special military operations aim to end the war in Ukraine launched by a number of Western countries and its satellites, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of BRICS leaders.

"Russia has decided to support people who are fighting for their culture, for their traditions, for their language and for their future," President Putin said as quoted by TASS on Aug. 24.

"Our actions in Ukraine have only one reason, to end the war launched by the West and its satellites in Ukraine against those living in Donbass," President Putin continued.

President Putin reminded that "first of all, with the help of Western countries, an unconstitutional coup was carried out in the country, and then a war was waged against people who disagreed with the coup."

"This brutal war, the extermination war, has been going on for eight years," said Putin.

It is known that President Putin was not physically present at the BRICS 15th Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. Instead, he attended an online meeting via video link and a video recording of his speech. The Russian delegation at the summit this time was led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
