Police Arrest 3 Subsidized Elpiji Pengoplos In Bogor

BOGOR - Police arrested three suspects who mixed 3 kilograms of subsidized LPG gas in Tamansari Village, Rumpin, Bogor Regency, West Java.

"We have secured three temporary perpetrators, who are in Tamansari Village, Rumpin District," said Head of the Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Yohanes Redhoi Sigiro, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 23.

The three suspects with the initials TS, MS, and AS transferred the gas from a 3 kg subsidy tube to a 5.5 kg gas cylinder.

Suspect TS is the owner of the polling business, MF is the business manager, and AS acts as the supervisor of the polling business.

"For the modus operandi of the three perpetrators along with three DPOs (wanted list) carry out activities by misuse of subsidized gas, injecting 3 kilograms of gas or government subsidies into 5.5 kg gas," he explained.

The police found as many as 83 5.5 kilograms of gas cylinders ready to sell and several empty 3 kilograms of tubes.

The suspects, Sigiro said, had been operating since about a month ago in the middle of a densely populated village, with a profit of IDR 100 million.

"Where per day state finances are harmed by Rp. 3.5 million so that if totaled in one month, starting from Rp. 110 million more than the profits they make from illegal businesses," he said.

The suspects are subject to Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas of Earth and or Article 62 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) letters b and c of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and or Article 32 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 31 of Law Number 2 of 1981 concerning Legal Metrology.(KR-MFS)
