TPA Sarimukti Fires, 188 Garbage Trucks Return To Bandung City

A total of 188 trucks loaded with garbage who had queued up at the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA), West Bandung Regency, were finally ordered to return to Bandung City due to the fire.

The 188 units of the garbage truck were re-instructed by bringing back their garbage cargo, because the fire facility was closed and in order to maintain driver safety.

"That's right, last Tuesday 188 trucks returned with the condition still filled with garbage. Because the Sarimukti TPA was closed due to a fire," said Head of the Cleanliness Division of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH) Sofyan Hernadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 23.

The garbage brought back to the city of Bandung itself, continued Sofyan, was returned to all Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS) in Bandung.

"We optimize the capacity at all polling stations, and urge residents to hold back the garbage first, not throw it into the polling station," he said.

Residents are also advised not to burn their own waste because it is dangerous to the environment.

"Don't burn it, but reduce it and take advantage of it (Kang Pisman) for our waste," he said.

The closure was a policy of the West Java Province DLH as a result of urging the Sarimukti TPA fire from Saturday (19/8) which until Wednesday night the flames in Sarimukti had not been extinguished, so the closure of waste disposal to the facility was carried out until an undetermined time limit.

This condition is expected to have a huge impact on the transportation of waste and cleanliness throughout the Bandung City Region.

Reportedly this fire hit the area of burned land, namely 10 hectares which were divided into zone 4, zone 3, and zone 2. Therefore, the manager himself seeks to cut off the fire bridge to zone 1 by making a ditch so that the fire does not approach the office area.
