President Jokowi Continues State Revenue Towards South Africa

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo continued his next state trip to the South African Republic after completing a meeting at the office of President of the Republic of Mozambique, Maputo, Republic of Mozambique.

Reported by ANTARA from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi, was seen escorting President Jokowi to the vehicle door after a bilateral meeting.

President Joko Widodo and his entourage then went straight to Maputo International Airport to take off for Johannesburg, South African Republic.

The Garuda Indonesia (GAI-1) aircraft carrying the President and his entourage took off at around 16.00 local time (WS), Wednesday, August 23.

It appears that the President, namely the Indonesian Ambassador to Mozambique and Malawi Herry Sudrajat and the wife and Defense Attache of the Republic of Indonesia in Pretoria Kol. Mar. Burhanudin and his wife.

From Mozambique also released Minister of Mineral Resources Carlos Joaquim Zakarias, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mozambique Manuel Jose Goncalves, Ambassador of Mozambique to Indonesia Belmiro Jose Malate, and Provincial Governor of Maputo Julio Parruque.

President Joko Widodo's visit to South Africa was aimed at fulfilling an invitation to attend the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, which took place on August 22-24, 2023.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media, Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin explained that President Jokowi was present as an invited guest and in Indonesia's capacity who was holding the chairmanship of ASEAN.

BRICS consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa are groups aimed at promoting dialogue and cooperation for developing countries.

South Africa is the fourth and last country President Jokowi visited on state trips in Africa after Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
