SIDOARJO - The Panel of Judges at the Surabaya Corruption Crime District Court (Tipikor) sentenced the Bangkalan Regent (Nonactive) Abdul Latif Amin Imron to nine years in prison related to the case of buying and selling positions and gratuities within the Bangkalan Regency Government. "Imposing a sentence of 9 years in prison, and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison," said Chief Justice Darwanto reading the verdict. Bangkalan Regent for the 2018-2023 period must also pay replacement money worth Rp9.7 billion within one year, and if he is unable to pay then his property will be confiscated. If it turns out that he does not have the property to be paid, the penalty will also be increased by 3 years. The panel of judges also still adds a sentence to the defendant, namely not to be elected as a public official for 5 years. "Imposing an additional penalty in the form of revocation of the right to be elected as a public official for five years after completing the execution of the sentence," said Chief Justice Darwanto. The panel of judges is lower than the demands of the KPK prosecutor, which is 12 years. The fine was also reduced because the prosecutor's demand for the KPK prosecutor is a fine of Rp500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

It is known that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ensnared the inactive Bangkalan Regent R Abdul Latif Amin Imron as a suspect in the alleged bribery case of buying and selling positions in the Bangkalan Regency Government and the alleged receipt of gratuities.
