Shooting Contact With KKB, Dandim Yahukimo Make Sure No Dekai Residents Evacuate

JAYAPURA - Dandim 1715/Yahukimo Lieutenant Colonel Inf Tommy Yudistyo confirmed that none of the residents in Dekai fled after a shootout between the KKB and members of the Pamtas Mobile Task Force Yon 7 Marines TNI-AL that killed Pratu Agung Pramudi Laksono (27).

He said there had been no reports regarding residents who had fled. To provide a sense of security from disturbances to armed criminal groups (KKB), the joint security forces of the TNI-Polri carried out patrols.

"People are asked to calm down, joint patrols are encouraged to provide a sense of security," said Lt. Col. Inf Tommy, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 21.

He said that currently the security situation is relatively conducive, but members are still on standby to anticipate the occurrence of KKB disturbances.

A shootout between members of the Battalion 7/Marinir Task Force and KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo occurred Monday (21/8) at around 11.10 WIT.

It is suspected that the cause of the firefight was because the KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo was not happy with the construction of the TNI-Polri Task Force Post in the Yahukimo Regency area.

"Currently members of the TNI-Polri are on standby to anticipate the occurrence of a shooting case by the KKB," he said.

Kodim 1715/Yahukimo is included in the Korem 172/PVB area.
