2 Perpetrators Of Land Burning In Seruyan, Central Kalimantan Arrested By Police

PALANGKA RAYA - The Seruyan Police Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Satgas Karhutla), Central Kalimantan secured two suspected land burners in two different places.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Kalimantan Police, Kombes Erlan Munaji, arrested the two perpetrators in two different locations. The perpetrators who were arrested had the initials ZI (39) and BY (28).

"The arrest of suspect ZI was carried out on August 20, 2023 at 08.30 WIB on land owned by a relative with the initials SZ Jalan Makmur Malang, Pematang Limau Village, Seruyan Hilir District, for BY was secured on the same date at 09.30 WIB on land owned by brother S, Jalan Bedikary II, Kuala Pembuang Village, Seruyan Hilir District," Erlan said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 21.

The arrests of the two perpetrators who have been named as suspects are based on information from the public where a criminal act of burning forests and land has occurred which has caused disturbances in security and public order (kamtibmas).

From the arrests at the two crime scenes (TKP), law enforcement officers managed to secure evidence in the form of two gas lighters and a sample of ash or charcoal left over from the burning grass.

"Our success in uncovering cases of criminal acts of forest and land fires, cannot be separated from cooperation with all levels of society," he said.

The suspect who is currently languishing in the Detention Center (Rutan) of the Seruyan Police Headquarters was charged with Article 187 to 1 of the Criminal Code or Article 27 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 7 paragraph (1) of the Regional Regulation of Central Kalimantan Province Number 1 of 2020 concerning Control of Forest and Land Fires.

"We are committed to taking firm action against land burners by intentionally not indiscriminately. Anyone who is caught will be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable legal regulations," said Erlan Munaji.
