Indian Water Reveals New Look Inspired By Cakra, Will Be Used From December

JAKARTA - Air India has revealed a new design for the appearance of its fleet, ahead of the Airbus A350 aircraft receipt and will be officially used in December.

The airline, headquartered in New Delhi, gave a glimpse of the cakra-inspired pattern two weeks ago.

Designed to capture "the essence of a brave new India", the palette features bright red and sleek terong colors, equipped with gold highlights. India's traditional window shape, which has been used by Air India historically, has been reimaginated into the frame of a curved gold window.

On the tail fins, bands of three colors sit side by side, with additional shadows for depth. Details of the jaali pattern, inspired by the cakra of the original Air India logo, adorn these colored ribbons.

While the stylish wing tips mimic the design of the tail fins on the inside, and display a golden exterior.

India's sturdy red Air machine house is decorated with a simple gold ribbon, while the airline's name is plastered at the bottom of the jet's red background, which is designed to be easy to read from land when flying at low altitudes.

The type of letter featuring the name of this airline has also changed to the type of letter "Air India Sans" made specifically.

"India's newly appeared brave, confident, and passionate, but also warm and rooted in the rich history and traditions that make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for service standards," said Campbell Wilson, Air India's chief executive, as reported by The National News August 18.

In addition to the new pattern, this government-owned airline has also tidied up its logo under the new owner of the Tata Group.

Inspired by the top of the new gold window frame, the "The Vista" logo is designed to symbolize the "likely window".

The first jet to use a new Air India pattern is the new Airbus A350, which will start operating in December.

"The colors, patterns, shapes and how they blend and what they represent are very important, but our actions speak much louder. We are in the midst of total transformation to reorganize the role of India's main airline," added Wilson.

It is known, this new look is just one part of the transformation of Air India. The airline has confirmed an agreement to acquire 250 new Airbus aircraft and 220 Boeing jets, with deliveries set to begin in November this year.

In addition, as part of a $400 million retrofitting program, which starts next year, the airline's old fleet of 43 wide-body jets will be equipped with new seats, an upgraded in-plane entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity. By 2026, Air India will have a fleet of long-ranges that have been renewed.
