Transjakarta Denies Fires About The Cause Of The Tendean Bus Stop Fire

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Transjakarta Welfizon Yuza denied the statement from the Fire and Rescue Service which stated that the cause of the Tendean bus stop fire was an electrical short circuit.

Welfizon emphasized that the source of the fire came from outside the Tendean Bus Stop and spread into the bus stop. According to him, there was no damage to the cable network in the stop that caused the fire.

"It doesn't seem like a corset, because if you look at the source from outside, it's not from the inside. It's normal if there is a cable network from inside and all kinds of things," Welfizon told reporters, Friday, August 18.

Welfizon said he knew that the source of the fire was not from the stop based on video recording evidence from Transjakarta officers during the seconds of the fire.

"From the videos of friends in the field and their confession, when there was a source of fire, they immediately took the APAR, sprayed it," said Welfizon.

"So initially the fire came from behind beside the flyover. Our bus stop behind it was a flyover and there was a little room, at the end there. So, the fire started from there," he continued.

However, Welfizon handed over further investigations into the Tendean bus stop fire case to the police.

"Yesterday the Forensic Laboratory also went down, now it is being processed. Now our focus is to keep the service from being disturbed," said Welfizon.

The fire at the TransJakarta bus stop on Jalan Kaptendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on August 14 afternoon panicked road users who passed through the area. The fire spread rapidly to various corners of the building in the afternoon yesterday.

The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service received information on the fire at the Tendean Bus Stop at 17.40 WIB. The fire immediately deployed 30 personnel and 7 fire engines. The fire was finally extinguished and has been cooled at 18.23 WIB.

South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) picket officer Triyanto said that the cause of the Tendean Bus Stop fire was suspected to be an electrical short circuit.

Triyanto explained that the charging attack device emitted a fire and spread throughout the bus stop building.

"The cause of the fire was due to a short circuit in the charging attack," Triyanto said in a short message, Monday, August 14.
