After 30 Times Khatam Al-Quran, Convicts In Robbery Cases At Salemba Rutan Get Free Remission On RI Anniversary Celebration

JAKARTA - Rahmat Basuki (36), one of the convicts of the robbery case, received a free remission at the Class 1A detention center in Central Jakarta at the celebration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, Thursday, August 17.

The man who has been khatam al-Quran more than 30 times admitted that he was very touched after waiting so long for the day of his release.

"I'm very happy because today is what I've been waiting for for years. Getting remission on August 17 is mass free, very happy, very proud," said one of the convicts in the robbery case with a sentence of 2.6 years.

Rahmat admitted that he regretted the consequences of his unlawful actions. He was previously arrested by the police when he carried out a robbery on Hasyim Ashari Street, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

"This is the first time I have entered the Salemba Rutan. There are regrets, I regret it very much. During my sentence, I have met the Koran 30 times," said the man with 1 child.

Even though he has breathed free air, Rahmat does not yet know what he will work for in the community. However, he is determined not to do any more unlawful work.

"Currently, I haven't (there is work outside) but later I will look for the important halal ones, not against the law. During coaching in Block G, I was the administrator of the prayer room, so thank God I got provisions from the At-Taubah mosque cleric. There are Yasinan and tausiah and the supervisor," said the native resident of Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

Karutan Kelas 1A Jakarta Pusat, Fauzi Harahap mengatakan, jumlah warga binaan yang ada di rutan semak 3181 orang. Pada HUT RI ke 78 ini ada 1035 warga binaan yang dapat remission.

"Among them 935 general remissions 1, 2 general remissions as many as 100 people. A total of 45 people get free remissions, 57 people will undergo subsidies or fines," said Fauzi when confirmed, Thursday, August 17.

The prisoners who get remission are given to prisoners who already have and have permanent legal force, behave well while undergoing coaching, there are no disciplinary violations during their criminal period and no other cases are currently still being processed in the investigation of other legal apparatus.

"There are more remissions this year, because last year it was still in the covid pandemic and some inmates are still being placed at the Polres, Polda and the Attorney General's Office," he said.

Separately, the Head of the Salemba Correctional Institution (Kalapas), Yosafat Rizanto, said that there were 1,966 inmates in Salemba Prison. This number is 1,624 who can be remissiond but are still serving a period of detention.

"Meanwhile, 114 other prison inmates were divided into 56 and were immediately released and 57 were still undergoing subsidies and 1 was still undergoing training. And 249 people were unable to recover," he said.

Yosafat said, to be able to get remission, inmates must behave well, not serve disciplinary punishment in the last 6 months. Then have participated in the coaching program organized by prisons with good predicates.

"Then the inmates have served a criminal period of more than 6 months. We face inmates who are free not to return to detention or come into contact with the law," he concluded.
