NTT Provincial Government Completes Dispute 7 Tapal Borders Between Regions

KUPANG - The Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) for the past five years has resolved a dispute over seven boundaries between regencies/cities. Previously, inter-regional boundaries often sparked conflicts among residents. "One of the main concerns of the NTT government since 2018 has resolved the issue of boundary disputes between regencies/cities that always cause friction in the community," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat when delivering a speech in commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, August 16. Since 2018, the NTT Provincial Government has continued to strive to resolve various border conflicts between regencies/cities that have not been resolved before. The settlement of boundary boundaries can be resolved through a socio-cultural approach and intensive coordination with the central government. He said the settlement of the inter-regional limit in NTT Province was supported by the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) which set a regional limit, namely between Malacca Regency and North Central Timor Regency, Nagekeo Regency and Ngada Regency. In addition, the settlement of regional boundary disputes has also been resolved between Ngada Regency and East Manggarai Regency, Central Sumba Regency and West Sumba Regency, Southwest Sumba Regency with West Sumba Regency. The resolution of the regional boundary conflict was also successfully resolved by the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, namely Malacca Regency and South Central Timor Regency, as well as the Kupang City area boundary with Kupang Regency. "After the Minister of Home Affairs' Decree, all regional boundary problems between districts/cities in NTT have been resolved," said Laiskodat.

He said that after successfully resolving the dispute over seven boundaries without any conflict, the central government designated East Nusa Tenggara Province as the only province that won the title of regional boundary settlement properly in 2022.
