Golkar And PAN Enter Prabowo's Carriage, Called Potentially Winning The 2024 Presidential Election

Political observer Ujang Komarudin assesses that the joining of the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Golkar Party support Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) could potentially bring victory. Moreover, if they are solid with the Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

Gerindra, PKB, PAN and Golkar can certainly be great strengths. Strength that has the potential to win in the 2024 presidential election later," Ujang told reporters, Monday, August 14.

In addition to maintaining solidity, Ujang said, the coalition of parties supporting Prabowo is now just governing strategies. One of them, determines the companion for the Minister of Defense.

"Don't let them make the wrong choice to determine the vice presidential candidate (cawpres) for Prabowo. If the vice president's reading is good, it can add electoral and increase the victory for Pak Prabowo, then Prabowo has the potential to win the fight in 2024," he said.

Previously, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto and PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan officially declared support for Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. The two parties together conveyed to the public at the Proclamation Script Museum, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 13.

Airlangga said his party supported Prabowo because the Minister of Defense had been a Golkar cadre before establishing the Gerindra Party. Meanwhile, PAN supports it because of the long-standing cooperation.

It is known, PAN also supports Prabowo in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. "We have been together with Pak Prabowo for 10 years. If you stay a little, why can't you wait? We are sure that the 10-year struggle will be over," said Zulkifli after declaring support.

For this support, Prabowo stated that these two parties were close, not because of the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This is because the head of state is said to respect the choice of each party in the 2024 presidential election.

"Pak Jokowi is a very democratic person. So, he really respects the independence and rights of every political party. I think that's what I have to emphasize," Prabowo said at the Proclamation Script Formulation Museum, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 13.
