Check Road Construction Allegedly Originated In Garut, Regent: PUPR Planning Error

Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan directly checked the implementation of the road infrastructure construction project which was reported to have been found carelessly.

The construction in the southern region of Garut Regency has been going on since Saturday 12 August. Rudy checked the location.

Rudy conveyed that the results of the direct review of the project found several problems that indicated an error in the process. He also asked related parties to fix it in accordance with the project agreement contract.

"Now there are many people who complain about their work, so now we in the next few days will control or check," he said, confiscated by Antara, Sunday, August 13.

Rudy stated that Garut Regency has a budget sourced from general allocation funds as well as provincial financial assistance for 17 roads in the southern region of Garut Regency.

The road construction project in the south, he said, turned out to have received complaints from the public and there were also findings of the results of the examination by the Garut Inspectorate.

Due to this complaint, the regent said that it was a serious concern for his party by directly checking the process of implementing the project and as a result, several projects had to be improved.

He expressed his disappointment with the performance of the planning consultant, then the Garut PUPR Service because it was considered that there was an error in the planning, one of which was that the project did not include the bone steel element on several roads.

"This is a misplanned error from PUPR, we will fix it in the future," said Rudy.

The results of the review of road construction by the regent turned out that not all of them found errors, there was also a construction whose results were quite good, one of which was the road connecting Jatisari with Cikondang, Cisompet District.

According to him, with a budget of Rp600 million, the results are quite good and in two weeks it is estimated that road construction will be completed, compared to checks in the Cipurip area where the budget is Rp6.7 billion, there are shortcomings and must be corrected.

"This activity is only Rp600 million but good, it's still a long time but it's two weeks away, if the mandate is good," said Rudy.

Rudy said that infrastructure development is not only running fast, but must have good quality that is not easily damaged, so that people can enjoy building roads longer.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation between parties involved in the project, such as local governments, contractors, and planning consultants, so that it can produce quality and long-lasting development.

"People must get good quality work, so that this road project is not quickly damaged, if the contractor is not quickly damaged," said Rudy.

The Garut Regent directly inspected the construction of nearly 24 km of roads starting from the Cipurip District, then Jatisari in Cisompet District and then to Peundeuy District, and to Sagara in Cibalong District.
