Peak Of Dry Season, Drought In NTB Expands In 12 Regencies 57 Regions

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning that meteorological drought was widespread in several regions of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in the 2023 dry season.

"Towards the peak period of this year's dry season, the people of NTB are advised to use water wisely, effectively and efficiently," said BMKG forecaster for the West Nusa Tenggara Climatology Station, Cakra Mahasurya, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 11.

Meteorological Drought Early Warning at the Alert level is located in East Lombok Regency in Sambelia District, North Lombok Regency in Bayan District and Sumbawa Regency in Utan District. Meanwhile, the Alert level is located in Dompu District, Dompu, Huu, Kempo, Kilo, Manggalewa, Pajo, Woja.

Bima Regency in Belo, Bolo, Donggo, Lambitu, Lambu, Madapangga, Palibelo, Sanggar, Sape, Soromandi, Wawo and Bima sub-districts in Raba Rasanae Timur District.

In addition, Mataram City in Mataram District, West Lombok Regency in Batu Layar District, Gerung, Kediri, Lembar, Lingsar, Narmada. Central Lombok Regency in Janapria District, West Praya, Central Praya, Pujut. East Lombok Regency in Aikmel, Jerowaru, Keruak, Labuhan Haji, Montong Gading, Pringgabaya, Pringgasela, Sembalun, Swela, Sukamulia, Wanasaba.

North Lombok Regency in Gangga, Kayangan, Pemenang, Tanjung District. Sumbawa Regency in Alas, West Alas, Batulanteh, Buer, Lape, Lenanguar, North Moyo, Orong Telu, Rhee, Sumbawa, Unter Iwes and West Sumbawa Districts in Brang Ene District, Brang Rea, Jereweh, Maluk, Poto Tano, Senteluk, Taliwang.

"Alert wheels are located in Central Lombok Regency in Batukliang District, East Lombok Regency in Sikur and Terara Districts and Sumbawa Regency in Labangka, Moyo upstream," he said.

BMKG also stated that the public also needs to be aware of the occurrence of forest and land and drought fires that generally occur during the dry season period.

"People can take advantage of water reservoirs such as reservoirs, reservoirs, or other rainwater reservoirs to anticipate the peak period of the dry season which is starting to enter the NTB area, especially in areas where drought often occurs," he said.
