AGO: Supreme Court Decision Regarding Cassation Ferdy Sambo Cs Has Accommodated Prosecutors' Demands

The Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung), Ketut Sumedana, said that the Supreme Court's decision on Ferdy Sambo Cs' appeal had accommodated all considerations and demands from the public prosecutor.

"Like the demands against Ferdy Sambo, from the start the public prosecutor demanded life imprisonment, and finally the Supreme Court decided a life sentence," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 9.

Likewise, the cassation decision against Putri Candrawati was sentenced to eight years in prison, but the Supreme Court decided to be higher by the first level court and the appeal rate to 20 years. However, the last time at the MA level was decided to be 10 years in prison.

Similar to the defendants Ricky Rizal Wibowo and Strong Ma'ruf were also charged with eight years, but in the end, at the MA level, it was decided for 10 years.

"This means that what the public prosecutor wants and all legal considerations have been properly accommodated," said Ketut.

Regarding the next step after the Supreme Court's decision was read, Ketut said the Attorney General's Office was still waiting for the complete and complete copy of the verdict to be studied before carrying out the execution.

He said the prosecutor had the obligation to carry out the execution after one month the Supreme Court's decision was read.

When the execution of the four defendants will be carried out and where the detention will be carried out, Ketut said he was still waiting after a copy of the Supreme Court's decision was received by the prosecutor.

Regarding the authority to review criminal cases, Ketut explained that this authority was no longer owned by the Prosecutor's Office since April 14, 2023.

The authority to apply for a review only lies with the convict and his heirs.

"We are just waiting to be executed after the status of the four defendants become prisoners, so the person concerned is given the authority or opportunity to apply for a legal or constitutional PK," said Ketut.
