JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi opened the 14th national coordination meeting of the Indonesian Information Commission in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Monday 7 August.

Accompanied by the Chairman of the Central Information Commission Donny Yoesgiantoro and the Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah, the Minister of Communication and Information hit the gong to mark the opening of the National Information Commission coordination meeting which took place at the Lombok Raya Hotel.

On that occasion, he revealed the importance of information disclosure to the public.

"The road is damaged in Lampung, only viral capital throughout Indonesia can know and the information is so fast (spreading). That's why I said earlier, there was misinfomation, disinformation, and the most terrible is malinformation that needs to be monitored," he said.

He also conveyed the importance of information disclosure in an effort to realize the implementation of peaceful elections in 2024.

"Our democracy must be of higher quality. Democracy is of the quality of the debate, it must also be healthy," he said.

The National Coordination Meeting of the Information Commission which took place from August 6-9, 2023 in Mataram City was attended by around 400 participants from all over Indonesia.

The meeting, which is intended to strengthen the institutions of the Information Commission at the central to district/city levels, includes the preparation of work plans and strategic steps in an effort to realize information disclosure for democracy, people's welfare, and national development.
