SURABAYA - Deputy Mayor (Wawali) of Surabaya City Armuji conducted an inspection related to roadside parking that was reported by residents on Jalan Medokan Ayu, Rungkut District, Kota Pahlawan, East Java.

"We ask the kelurahan and sub-districts to help the Transportation Agency (Dishub) to supervise the parking location on the side of the road. In addition, we are also following up if there are reports of residents related to illegal parking," said Vice Mayor Armuji as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

In accordance with the data compiled by the Surabaya Transportation Agency, there are currently 1,200 official parking points spread across the City of Heroes. Of these, around 1,000 of them are on the side of the road.

According to Vice Mayor Armuji, the most often complained by residents is that the tariff listed on the ticket is not the same as the amount withdrawn by illegal parking attendants.

In addition, he continued, the supermarket location listed as free parking, but still found illegal parking attendants (jukir) still charge parking fees.

"This must be resolved," said Cak Ji Armuji's nickname.

Cak Ji wants a sense of security and comfort for Surabaya residents who want to park their vehicles in public places without any worries regarding illegal levies on ticket fees.

For this reason, Cak Ji also asked the Surabaya Transportation Agency to periodically provide guidance to parking attendants to be able to carry out their obligations responsibly and control the illegal jukir.

"Everything is running together, PAD (regional original income) enters according to the target and residents are also comfortable. Of course, it can support and empower residents to become parking attendants. Must build mutual understanding," said Cak Ji.

Just so you know, the target of achieving PAD in the parking sector in 2023 will decrease to IDR 32 billion compared to last year's IDR 35 billion. PAD Surabaya in 2022 amounting to IDR 35 billion only reached 40 percent, namely IDR 18 billion.
