Prabowo Invites PSI To Join The Coalition With Gerindra And PKB

JAKARTA - The presidential candidate (candidate) as well as the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto invites the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) to join the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) to face the 2024 General Election.

"Oh, yes. We certainly want to invite all red and white powers, all Indonesian powers to work together," Prabowo said during a press conference after visiting the PSI DPP office on Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

Prabowo admitted that he was happy to be invited by PSI to stay in touch with the political party which was synonymous with red and white. He has no problem whether or not a political party wants to invite himself to an audience.

"I'm also very happy to be invited and for me it's not a big matter, it's an idealism," he added.

Furthermore, Prabowo assessed that PSI consists of young people who are idealistic, have high aspirations, and have a commitment to realizing and maintaining national unity.

"So, I feel very happy to be invited and I came, and thank you for being given the opportunity," he said.

In the one hour closed meeting, Prabowo said he expressed his views. Prabowo also felt that there was a lot of match between the Gerindra Party and PSI.

"What I see is a lot of compatibility, a lot of compatibility, and they (PSI) promised to return a visit to my place," he said.

Prabowo admitted that he was optimistic about facing the future and was committed to continuing the government's struggle. Not to forget, he also reminded all parties to keep the atmosphere cool during the political year.

"Indonesia is already on the right path and we will continue. With togetherness, with coolness, harmony, we will achieve what we aspire to," he said.

Based on the schedule set by the General Elections Commission (KPU), registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election will start from 19 October to 25 November 2023.

In Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu) it is stated that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total DPR seats or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI or pairs of candidates promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
