Sandiaga Meeting At The Palace Tuesday Afternoon, Jokowi: We Discuss Tourism, Not Politics

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said his meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy as well as a cadre of the United Development Party (PPP) Sandiaga Uno at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday afternoon, only discussed tourism and did not discuss politics.

"No. Tourism. We discuss tourism at 4 pm," Jokowi said in the Senayan area, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2

On Tuesday afternoon, Jokowi also had a meeting with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who is also chairman of the Gerindra Party. According to Jokowi, the meeting discussed the visit of the Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.

"(Prabowo) reported on the visit of the Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia," said Jokowi.

Previously, Sandiaga, after being received by President Jokowi on Tuesday afternoon at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, said his meeting with Jokowi took place one-on-one and discussed tourism and politics.

Sandiaga also said that after being received by President Jokowi, he met Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex.

"We (President Jokowi and Sandiaga Uno) only met to discuss tourism. But there were also light discussions. Light discussions, thin discussions about politics," said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga revealed that the political talks discussed with the President included, among other things, Sandiaga's activities after two months of joining PPP. He conveyed to the President regarding the various aspirations of the people from the results of his visits to the field, namely regarding inflation, the need for employment, and the importance of a corruption-free government.

"Recent developments, I have only joined a new party (PPP) for two months, what are the results of visits to the community, what aspirations are conveyed, what development needs to be accelerated related to the situation in leading destinations," said Sandiaga.
