2 Women Perpetrators Of Sale And Purchase Of IDR 11 Million In Batam Arrested By Police

BATAM - Barelang Police (Batam, Rempang, Galang) arrested two women with the initials AHA (17) and BU (40) who were suspected of being involved in the practice of buying and selling babies in Batam, Riau Islands.

"We arrested two people who were suspected of buying and selling the baby on Thursday (27/7). The first had the initials AHA, she was the biological mother of a 6-month-old baby girl who was sold, and BU, a resident of Medan, North Sumatra, as a baby buyer," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police, Kompol Budi Hartono, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 31.

The case of selling babies was revealed after AHA's mother, YW, made a report to the police station on Wednesday (19/7). She made a report after finding AHA and her grandson not home after returning from work.

After trying to find the whereabouts of her children and grandchildren assisted by AHA's ex-husband, YW finally found them in the Batam Center area.

To YW, AHA admitted that his son had been sold for adoption to other people. Hearing that, YW then took AHA to the Barelang Police.

To investigators, AHA admitted that his son was handed over to BU, a resident of Medan, North Sumatra. The perpetrator AHA received Rp11 million from the sale.

From this information, police officers then developed and arrested BU and rescued the baby in Medan, North Sumatra.

"Perpetrator BU was secured at his residence in Medan. The baby was also rescued and brought back to Batam," he said.

Currently, the case is still under development. There are still some perpetrators who are still being chased by the police.

"Currently it is still being developed, because there are other perpetrators in this case," he said.
