BANJARBARU - Forest and land fires (karhutla) scorched an area of more than eight hectares in the Campus II area of the State Islamic University (UIN) Antasari City of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

He said personnel received information on the hotspots this afternoon at around 16.00 WITA, the team moved to the location with its address at Landasan Ulin Tengah Village, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City.
There are about 30 joint personnel including BPBD South Kalimantan, BPBD Banjarbaru, Manggala Agni, Volunteers for the Fire Brigade (BPK), TNI and Polri.
The team experienced several obstacles in the field due to water points quite far from the location of the fire, but personnel confirmed that the fire had been extinguished at around 20.30 WITA.
He mentioned that the forest and land fires are semi peatlands and the team used eight water hoses to extinguish the blaze.

Meanwhile, South Kalimantan BPBD Field officer Ilham Ramadhan said his team had extinguished the location this afternoon, personnel left the location because the fire had been extinguished.
"It turned out that the fire started again around 16.00 WITA, there were two incidents at once," he said.
He said the field team struggled to change locations in two forest and land fires that scorched the land of one of the country's campuses.
Volunteers from BPK Rauhan stated that the fire conditions were under control.
