Former Kaur Sorinamanon Tapsel Defendant Of Corruption Hundreds Of Millions Sued 4.5 Years In Prison

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the South Tapanuli District Attorney (Kejari) charged the defendant Irwan Saleh Siregar as the former Head of Affairs (Kaur) of Sorinanamon Village, Batang Angkola District, South Tapanuli Regency for 4.5 years in a corruption case.

"In addition, the defendant was fined Rp. 200 million, or if the fine was not paid, it was replaced with imprisonment for three months," said Public Prosecutor Habi Affandi at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 24.

The prosecutor assessed that the defendant's actions fulfilled the elements of the criminal act Article 2 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, as the primary indictment.

The defendant is believed to have committed or participated in enriching himself or other people, in this case the convict former Head of Sorinamanon Village, Insan Mukmin Hasibuan, amounting to Rp741,600,821.7

"The money comes from village income and expenditure for Fiscal Year 2020 in Sorinamanon Village, Angkola District, South Tapanuli Regency," said the prosecutor.

During his tenure as Kaur Keuangan, the defendant admitted that he was not involved in village activities at all. But did not report the condition in question and did not submit a resignation to the Department of Community and Village Empowerment (PMD) of South Tapanuli Regency.

Therefore, the defendant was not subject to additional punishment for paying compensation (UP) for state financial losses. Only the convicted former village head enjoyed the state's money.

Habi Affandi said that the aggravating thing for the defendant was not to participate in the government's program in eradicating corruption, costing the state finances Rp741,600,821.7.

"The mitigating thing is that the defendant did not come clean and regretted his actions at trial," said the prosecutor.
