Police Letter To Kemenpan RB Regarding Development Of The PPA Directorate

JAKARTA - The National Police continues to strive to develop the Sub-Directorate of Women and Children Services (PPA) to become the directorate at the Polda and Police Headquarters levels. Most recently, Kops Bhayangkara has written to the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan RB) regarding this matter.

"The National Police has sent a letter to the PANRB Ministry regarding the request for the formation of an oganization structure of the PPA and PPO Directorates at Bareskrim Polri and Polda," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Monday, July 24.

However, it was not conveyed in detail about the time the letter was sent by the National Police to the Kemenpan RB.

Ramadan has so far only conveyed that if later the request for the development of the PPA Directorate is approved, then it will have implications for Perkap number 6 of 2017 concerning SOTK or organizational arrangements and work procedures at the National Police Headquarters level.

As this regulation has also been amended several times with Police Regulation (Perpol) number 6 of 2022 concerning the fourth amendment to the Regulation of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Perkap) number 6 of 2017 concerning the sustainability of the SOTK organization at the Indonesian National Police Headquarters level.

"Currently, the establishment of the PPA and PPO Directorates is still in process," said Ramadhan.

Previously, the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said that the development of a special directorate that handles cases of children and women aims to maximize case handling. Moreover, later it will not only focus on taking action but also preventive measures.

Then, this directorate mining will also empower female police officers (polwan). Because, in violence with children and women, many personal sides cannot be discussed or conveyed to male investigators.

"Then we will increase the number of officers because there are private spaces where not all police can invite them to talk, especially not to become victims, to become victims for the second time," he said.

"Of course, we also cooperate with the PPA apparatus ministry to provide special handling because there are traumas that must be improved," continued Sigit.

So, if the special directorate development plan is realized, it is hoped that cases involving children and women, either as perpetrators or victims, can be minimized.
