After an investigation, it was found that 137 cellphones were sold by the Semarang HS store belonging to the suspect with the initials IMB.

The mode used by the suspect in this case is that the perpetrators buy cellphones from various brands and types on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee or Tokopedia, which are suspected to be black market (BM) goods.

By the suspect, the cellphone was repackaged as before and then resold at his shop, both online and offline. The suspect gave a warranty for one month. If it is past one month, then the warranty does not apply.

To launch the action, the suspect sold old mobile phones that were no longer produced by producers. Then the cellphone, which is not equipped with an SDPPI certificate, was purchased at a price of IDR 300 thousand to IDR 1,300.000.

Then, the cellphone was sold by the suspect at varying prices depending on the brand and year of output, between Rp. 700,000 to Rp. 1,500,000.

It is known that the reconditioned cellphone without the official label sold 2 to 3 units per day, or about 50 cellphones per month. And according to the suspect MI in Demak, he has been selling the illegal cellphone for 6 months (since December 2022). Meanwhile, another suspect, namely IMB, has been selling for 5 months (from the end of February 2023).

The mobile phone sales turnover in one month is approximately IDR 108,000,000 per month, and the profit earned from the sale of the cellphone is around IDR 15,000,000 per month.

The suspect explained that the price of a new cellphone that is not equipped with an SDPPI label is much cheaper than the official new cellphone that has an SDPPI label. In comparison, the price of one unit of the OPPO series A57 cellphone which is not equipped with a certificate and the SDPPI label is sold at a price of around Rp. 1,500,000, while a similar cellphone that is sold officially (equipped with an SDPPI label) is sold at a price of Rp. 2,500,000. The difference of Rp. 1 million is cheaper.
