JAKARTA - The President Director of Perumda Air Drinking (PAM) Jaya targets the acceleration of the installation of new pipes that serve the distribution of clean water to customers. The plan is that there will be 19 thousand new connections until August 2024.

The acceleration of the installation of this new pipeline is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

"Today we are also holding a meeting with the Ministry of PUPR to accelerate the installation until August 2024, there are 19 thousand new connections," said Arief when met at the PAM Jaya office, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 20.

Until now, the number of PAM Jaya pipeline connections has reached 960 thousand. With the addition of new pipes over the next year, the total connection will be 980 thousand.

Arief continued, accelerating the addition of PAM's water pipe connections is needed to facilitate the shift in the use of groundwater into piped water by customers, both at the household and place of business.

"If there are several locations that have been determined not to be exploited by the ground water, while the pipe water has not arrived, it will eventually cause anxiety. Because the water needs still have to run. So, what PAM does is accelerate the installation," explained Arief.

Until now, PAM Jaya's coverage of services in Jakarta is still 65 percent or to 908 thousand customers. The production capacity of piped water produced is still as much as 20,725 liters per second.

Arief said that his party has a target of fulfilling service coverage which is targeted to reach 100 percent by 2030. As an effort to socialize to the public, PAM Jaya collaborates with the University of Indonesia's Stratejik and Global Studies School (SKSG) in conducting studies and assessments.

"In various kinds of socialization of accelerating pipeline installation until 2030, the academic sector is our target for us to touch to help us disseminate information to the community. One of them is environmental impact, social impact, it requires perspective from the academic sector," explained Arief.

"We will also assess what we have served for customer existing. So that we can measure, there is a score how fast PAM Jaya will fit back to improve on the existing services," he continued.
