BANDA ACEH - Komnas HAM has examined 106 victims of gross human rights violations in Aceh Province for three cases recognized by the government in the non-judicial settlement process.
"We have prepared 106 victims (Investigation Reports) for three cases of gross human rights violations, namely the Simpang KKA, Jambo Keupok and Rumoh Geudong-Pos Sattis," said Head of Komnas HAM Aceh Representative Sepriady Utama in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.
Sepriady said the 106 victims had undergone BAP examination from 2013 to 2020 for three cases of gross human rights violations which are now recognized by the government.
Among other things, for the Simpang KKA case in North Aceh, there were 33 victims, 17 cases of Jambo Keupok in South Aceh, and 56 cases of Rumoh Geudong and Sattis Post.
Even so, not all of these quantities have received a certificate of victims of gross human rights violations from the government.
The verification process is currently still ongoing for 48 other victims, some of whom have never undergone BAP. It is possible that from the verification process there will be additional victims of other gross human rights violations.
"It is possible to increase as long as they meet the requirements," he said.

President Joko Widodo at the end of June 2023 launched the implementation of the recommendation of the Non-Judicial Settlement Team for Past Serious Human Rights Violations at the Rumoh Geudong location, Pidie Regency, Aceh. That way the government began to realize the restoration of the rights of victims in 12 gross human rights violations that have been recognized by the state.
Of the 12 cases, three of them were in Aceh, namely the Rumoh Geudong and Sattis Posts in Pidie in 1989, the Simpang KKA North Aceh Incident in 1999, and the Jambo Keupok South Aceh incident in 2003.
Sepriady said the verification process involved a team from Jakarta whose results would be recommended to the Ministry of Political, Legal and Security Affairs to obtain recovery rights as victims of gross human rights violations. This process is very important so that the implementation of the settlement is right on target.
"Verification must be careful, thorough, and careful so that we do not issue the wrong certificate of victims of gross human rights violations," he said.
