Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo inspected the location of the Brantas train accident and container trucks at the Madukoro Raya Street train crossing, West Semarang, Semarang City, Tuesday (18/7/2023) night.

Ganjar wants to ensure that the evacuation, checking routes and bridges can be completed immediately. So, the train schedule can return to normal as usual.

According to an official statement received by the editors, Ganjar arrived at the location at around 22:40 and immediately saw the evacuation process of the truck cabin that was caught on the bridge. At that time the atmosphere at the location was very crowded with residents, so Ganjar reminded several times to keep residents away from the crime scene.

While at the location, Ganjar was seen coordinating with the police and KAI officers. He also had time to contact the Director of PT KAI to immediately deploy a team for evacuation. "The president director of PT KAI has also called me and today, God willing, today it will be taken care of. The Director of Safety will be sent soon tonight and we hope that tonight there will be results," said Ganjar at the location.

The check is expected to be carried out as soon as possible. Because after the incident, only one rail line is still functioning normally.

"Including the condition of the bridge, the condition of the rail so that it can be used again, we hope that tomorrow morning (Wednesday, red) with all levels of emergency. Hopefully, the team will come down to clean up soon," he said.

Ganjar also appreciated the alertness of officers, from the police, KAI, to BPBD and Basarnas who immediately went to the location.

"I thank you, everyone is alert, the police are already at the location, from KAI is already at the location, the team is all working. Hopefully, it will be handled quickly. KAI has responded well," said Ganjar.

There were no fatalities in the accident. However, there was one victim injured as he jumped from the train shortly after the collision occurred.

"Hopefully those who jumped can be treated soon," said Ganjar.

To note, the accident occurred at around 19.31 WIB. At that time KA 112 Brantas drove from Jakarta to Blitar. Meanwhile, a truck without cargo passed from the north.

A few seconds before the Brantas train arrived, the truck suddenly stopped and broke down right in the middle of the rail. Hard clashes were inevitable and loud explosions accompanied by flames had occurred. The truck was dragged and stopped in the middle of the bridge.

KA 112 Brantas is known to have brought 626 passengers in a series consisting of 3 executive class carriages, 6 economy class carriages and 1 generating carriage. The driver and assistant driver were reportedly safe, and none of the passengers were seriously injured.
