BINTAN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri) through the East Bintan Fire Department (Damkar) evacuated a three-meter long python from the residents' yard.

Head of UPTD East Bintan Fire Department, Nurwendi, said that his party received a report that a python was found behind the house of a resident named Dian Ardiansyah in Sidodadi Ujung Village, Kijang Kota Village, East Bintan District, at around 16.45 WIB.

"After receiving the report, the East Bintan Damkar UPTD guard team immediately went to the location to evacuate the python," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 12.

Nurwendi explained that the team took about half an hour to evacuate the python.

During the evacuation process, the East Bintan UPTDDamkar Team wore complete personal protective equipment to avoid the venomous animal.

"After successfully evacuating. The python was immediately taken to the post and released back into the wild, but in nature different from the initial location the snake was found," he said.

Nurwendi suspects that the python came out of the surrounding forest because it was looking for prey to find a safer and more comfortable place to live.

On Tuesday (11/7), his party also evacuated pythons that entered the second floor shophouse belonging to residents of East Bintan District.

"So in this week, we have evacuated a total of two pythons. Maybe it's the transition season so snakes come out looking for food or a place to live," he said.

He appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report to the authorities, especially the East Bintan Fire Department UPTD Post, if they find venomous animals, such as pythons, so that they can be handled quickly and professionally.

"The snake of the python is very dangerous. It does not bite but shrinks its prey," said Nurwendi.
