Minister Of Health: Health Law Simplifies Medical Practice Licensing

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin conveyed that the Law (UU) on Health in principle simplified licensing for medical practice.

"I spoke to many doctors outside the big city, they stated that getting a license for practice in big cities is difficult," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.

The Minister of Health said the Health Law accommodates the processing of permits for faster, easier, and simpler health workers practices.

"The simplification of the licensing process through the issuance of a valid Registration Certificate (STR) for life without eliminating the function of quality guarding and competence," he said.

The Minister of Health also conveyed that the Health Law includes efforts to enforce ethics within the health professional organization through the implementation of a transparent open session involving the Ethics Council.

"We have the Ethics Council, so input there is transparent, and procedures are carried out, and those who may defend themselves," he said.

When asked about the national strike action plan from medical workers who rejected the ratification of the Health Law, Budi said that he appreciated differences of opinion.

"I really appreciate differences of opinion, but convey it in a healthy way, and whenever I am open to those who want to communicate with me," he said.

"Let democracy happen with intelligence, open, without emotion, harsh words. Let people see which arguments are correct," continued Budi.

The government and the DPR have officially agreed that the Draft Law (RUU) on Health is passed into law at the DPR Plenary Meeting for Session V for Session Year 2022-2023.

The majority of factions in the DPR approved the ratification of the Health Bill into law. Only the Democratic Party faction and the PKS faction rejected the ratification of the bill into law.
